Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine has a unique style which combines R&B with gospel, soul music and R&B. The singer's career has taken her across Broadway to European events and clubs, up to her participation in the Democratic National Convention. Sunshine has the name Denise White. While she is living in Atlanta now, Sunshine is born in Chester Pennsylvania. In Chester Pennsylvania she started out as a musician singing and playing at the church in town. She went to Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her musical apprenticeship within Atlanta's R&B scene. She took on the role of primary keyboardist at Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. In 2007, Grammy and Tony Award-winning singer Jennifer Holliday sought her out to be the director of choral for the theatrical production of Dreamgirls during the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Sunshine was the subject of national media attention due to her several performances throughout the Democratic National Convention in 2008. Sunshine was invited to sing as part of Obama's inaugural ceremony in 2009.
